Here you can read about Ella in English.
Ella Rock Programme at Gotlands folkhögskola (Gotland Folk High School) started out in 2004 – and it is a two year fulltime music education for young women. The students are mostly between 18 and 25 years old and they come from all over Sweden and also from other countries.
Our goal is to provide a broad musical foundation and the programme includes for example instrument skills, ensemble playing, live performances, song writing, music theory, audio engineering and recording, gender studies and music business – all with a gender perspective.
After the first year you can chose to move forward to a second year. The second year is a year where the students work with band projects, booking tours, marketing themselves and recording their music.
Just recently we have also started a record label and we are now in the process of recording, producing and finally in the month of May, releasing an EP with our second year students in the band Mud Walk.
We work with a number of collaboration with professional producers, for example music for radio programs and music videos.
We are situated on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, about 35 minutes from Stockholm by air and 3 hours by ferry. Here we have our own music house with good rehearsal rooms and a great recording studio. We offer a unique and stimulating learning environment in the heart of the Baltic Sea region.
Last ordinary application date for the year 2017-2018 is April 30, 2017.
Sometimes a late application still can be accepted. Late applications will be dealt with as far as time admits.
